The territory of Marsala is one of the most beautiful and interesting in Sicily, with great natural landscapes combined with others made by the hands of men, like the famous saltpans on the coast between Marsala and Trapani.

The typical local stone is the so called tufo (tuff stone), extracted from ancient quarries since a long time. The elegant architecture of this side of Sicily takes its colour from this golden stone, and even if today most of the quarries are no longer in use, it is really suggestive to visit them.

We will take you on a day trip to discover the history of the quarries, and the fascinating landscapes created around them, together with a tasting of superb typical Sicilian Cheese and wine.

Our first stop is a cheese factory located in the middle of an ancient quarry. Here, you can try a selection of cheese and wine, all locally produced, listening to the stories of this amazing factory and territory.

Following the tasting, we suggest you to go and visit a quarry that has been transformed into a museum by a couple of passionate and visionary people, to experience a travel to the centre of the earth.
