Serena is an archaeologist who studied classical archaeology at the University of Catania. She has participated in excavation programs in Italy and abroad, yet it is her expertise of the Morgantina archaeological site, which is most impressive, as she has dedicated over 10 years of research to deciphering this rich, complex and unfortunately too little known site. She has worked for the Administration of Cultural and Environmental Heritage in Enna, supervising archaeological campaigns, and has been offering consultancy services to the Archaeological Museum of Aidone for some years. Serena’s published work helped to ascertain that the head of Hades that was recently repatriated to the Museum of Aidone actually belonged to the site of Morgantina. Serena’s passion for the cultural heritage of her land has also brought her to develop didactic programs for local schools.
